Anonymous communication support system using moderate relationship with third persons

<p>In this research, we propose a communication support system that provides moderate relationship among third persons without a sense of duty of reply. Users communicate anonymously through a photograph. A user uploads a photograph with a short text. The photograph is sent to more than one user chosen at random. Reply of comments is optional so a receiver of a photograph can let it slide. In reply, users can use not only short text also reaction button such as 'cute!' or 'don't mind!' to reduce the effort of reply. From the result of an experiment, we cleared that the proposed system support the communication while encouraging a reply to not feel a sense of duty. </p>

Development of Manga-style chat system introducing the Japanese style of expression

<p>In this research, we propose a visual interface for a chat system by adopting the Japanese Manga style. Characters in graphical chat systems can express various visual information. However, it is very troublesome for users to choose manually various emotions at each message during their chat. Therefore, we focus on the the Japanese Manga style. We make an attempt to reduce users' burdens without detriment of visual expressiveness. From the result of the comparison experiment, we cleared that the proposed system was highly evaluated than the comparison system in terms of readability. </p>

Proposal and Application of Communication Support System at Mealtimes Using Tabletop Interface

若者の対面コミュニケーション能力の低下が指摘される中，その原因として対面コミュニケーションの機会の減少があげられている．本研究では日常生活に欠かせない食事の場に着目し，対面コミュニケーションのきっかけ作りを支援する．負担を増やさずに直感的に操作することが可能なテーブルトップインタフェースを食卓として利用し，テーブルや皿，料理を電子的に飾り付けられるようにする．また，テーブルの状態に応じて偶発的なイベントを発生させる．これらの視覚要素を利用することにより，話題やコミュニケーションのきっかけを与える．提案システムを構築し適用実験を行った結果，特に初対面者を含む場合において，食事の楽しさを向上させ，コミュニケーションを活性化させられることが確かめられた．In this research, we aim to develop a system to support communication during mealtimes. It is said that the communication skills of young people have declined because of decrease of opportunity to speak face to face. We focus on the meal that is essential for everyday life as a place for face-to-face communication. The proposed system uses tabletop interface as a dining table to provide intuitive control without additional burden. Users can decorate the table and dishes with several digital items by only touching the surface of the table. Furthermore the system displays various visual events randomly on the table according to the condition of the items. By using visual effects, we realize the support to provide improving communication and enhancing the enjoyment of a meal. From the result of the experiments, we presented that users can take a cue of conversation through use of the system.

Proposal of Town Walking Tourism System Directing Interests of Tourists to their Surroundings by Presenting Ambiguous Information

まち歩き観光とは，観光ルートや目的地を定めない，自由度の高い観光形態である．一見何もないようなところから何かを見つけ出そうとする観光者の主体性が，まち歩き観光の価値向上につながる．観光ルートの最適化や，観光者の興味に基づく観光スポット推薦などの観光支援手法は，観光者の発見や体験を促すものではないため，まち歩き観光にふさわしくない．本研究では，観光者が自ら新たな発見や体験をするための，まち歩き観光支援システムを提案する．写真共有SNSに投稿された写真そのものではなく，写真に付与されたタグやキャプションを利用して他者の興味を間接的に提示し，観光者の興味を周囲に向けることを促す．既存のまち歩き観光支援との比較実験を行った結果，提案システムは被験者の興味を周囲に惹きつけ，観光マップにはない新たな発見や体験に貢献することが明らかになった．
Town-walking tourism is a form of tourism with a high degree of freedom that does not set a sightseeing route or a destination. The value of town-walking tourism is enhanced by the independence of tourists who try to find something out of a place where there seems to be nothing to see. Tourism support methods such as optimization of sightseeing routes and recommendation of tourist spots based on tourists' interests are not suitable for town-walking tours, because they do not encourage tourists' discoveries and experiences. In this study, we propose a sightseeing support system that enables tourists to discover and experience new things by themselves. The proposed system uses tags and captions attached to photos posted on a photo-sharing SNS to indirectly present the interests of others, rather than the photos themselves, and encourages tourists to direct their interests to their surroundings. As a result of a comparison experiment with the existing town-walking sightseeing support, it became clear that the proposed system attracts the subjects' interests to their surroundings and contributes to new discoveries and experiences that are not found on sightseeing maps.

本研究では，スマートデバイスのセンサを用い，休憩の指標を導入した複数人で使用する観光支援システムを提案する．本システムは，使用者の身体状況を，心拍数，位置情報，歩行数，標高から判断する．使用者1人だけではなく，相手の身体状況も共有し，把握できる．使用者が疲労していると判断した際に，使用者に身体的な疲労を意識させ通知し，休憩することを促す休憩奨励機能を持つシステムである．また，慣れない観光地での休憩場所を使用者に分かりやすくするように，休憩場所を表示する機能を持つシステムである．提案システムを用いて評価実験を行い，ランダムに通知をする実験と比較した結果，以下のことが分かった．(1)通知の時点での休憩場所が写真付きで表示されていることの評価が高かった．(2)心拍の上昇による通知は平均6.3回であった．同じ条件で行った以前の実験よりも回数が増えていて，通知が多すぎると指摘された．(3)歩行数による通知の評価は低かった．これは，休憩直後に，歩行数による通知が届くなど，休憩を考えずに歩行数だけで通知を出した結果だと考えられる．(4)標高による通知に関しては，適切なタイミングで通知されて評価が高く，ランダムに通知する場合と比較して有意差があった．(5)身体情報の把握に関しては，通知により相手の状態や自分の状態を知ったことと，常時，自分と相手の心拍と歩行数が見られることで，非常に高い評価（4.3/5.0から4.6/5.0）であった．
In this study, we proposed and developed a tourism support system for multiple people that introduced a break index using a smart device sensor. This system judges the physical condition of the user from heart rate, position information, walking rate, and altitude. The system can share and grasp physical condition not only one user but also the companion. It is a system with a break encouragement function that makes the user aware of physical fatigue and notifies them when they judge that they are tired, and encourages them to take a break. In addition, the system also has a function to display the resting place so that the user can easily understand the resting place in an unfamiliar tourist spot. As a result of conducting an evaluation experiment using the proposed system and comparing it with an experiment in which notifications were given at random, the following was found. (1) It was highly evaluated that the resting place at the time of notification was displayed with a photo. (2) The average number of notifications due to increased heart rate was 6.3 times. It was pointed out that the number of times was increased compared to the previous experiment conducted under the same conditions, and there were too many notifications. (3) The evaluation of the notification based on the number of walks was low. This is thought to be the result of issuing a notification based only on the number of walks without considering the break, such as receiving a notification based on the number of walks immediately after the break. (4) Regarding the notification by altitude, the notification was made at an appropriate timing and the evaluation was high, and there was a significant difference compared to the case of random notification. (5) Regarding the grasp of physical information, it is highly evaluated (4.3/5.0 to 4.6/5.0) because it knows the companion's condition and one's condition by notification, and the heart rate and walking rate of oneself and the companion can be seen at all times.

Development of a Pulse Rate Rise Suppression System That Stimulates with Wind Using Pulse Data

本研究では自動車運転のゲームを使用し，ストレス評価の指標として脈拍データを用い，運転時に脈拍数が上昇した際に顔に風を当てるシステムを提案する．脈拍数が上昇した際に風を当てることが被験者にどのような影響を与えるのか分析するために，システムを使用した場合，ランダムに風を当てる場合，風を当てない場合の3種類の実験を行った．実験には，自動車運転のゲームアプリケーションとハンドルやブレーキのあるコントローラを用いた．実験の結果下記のことが分かった．(1)安静時の脈拍数+10拍/分から+30拍/分で脈拍の上昇が適切に多く検知できる．(2)脈拍の上昇時に風を当てると，脈拍数が元（+10拍/分未満）に戻るのにかかる時間が，有意差があるほど早くなった．(3)脈拍の上昇時に風を当てると，ランダムに風を当てた場合と比較して脈拍数は有意差があるほど低くなった．(4)システム使用時に風は適切なタイミングで当てられたと感じた．
In this study, we propose a system that uses a car driving game, uses pulse data as an index for stress evaluation, and blows the wind on the face when the pulse rate rises during driving. In order to analyze how applying wind when the pulse rate rises affects the subject, we conducted three types of experiments: using the system, randomly applying wind, and not applying wind. For the experiments, we used a car driving game application and a controller with steering wheel, gas pedal, and brake. As a result of the experiment, the following was found. (1) A pulse rate of +10beats/min to +30beats/min at rest could detect an appropriately large number of pulse increases. (2) When the wind was applied when the pulse rate was rising, the time it took for the pulse rate to return to its original level (less than +10beats/min) became faster with a significant difference. (3) When the wind was applied when the pulse rate was rising, the pulse rate was significantly lower than when the wind was applied randomly. (4) We felt that the wind was applied at the right time when using the system by a result of the questionnaire.

Development of an IoT System "KADEN" Controlling for a Small Refrigerator Automatically by Situation Information from Smart Terminal

We propose an IoT system "KADEN". The system checks if there is any drink in the small refrigerator if the situation information (Position information, heart rate information, walking number) of the user's smart terminal satisfies certain conditions. If there is a drink, switch on cooling and let the user know. "KADEN" acquires various situation information by sensors of a smart phone and a smart watch. In addition, the system can detect whether there is a drink in the small refrigerator by a sensor automatically. We performed experiments to control the refrigerator by automatic control and manual control. The results of experiments were shown below. (1) In the evaluation of the entire system, there was no significant difference between when automatically controlling the small refrigerator using situation information and when controlling it manually. (2) What seems to be necessary in the situation information is the order of position information, walking number, heart rate information. (3) The usability evaluation of smart watch was high. (4) Evaluation of automatically knowing whether there is a drink was high in terms of necessity and convenience.

Development of Idea Generation Consistent Support System That Includes Suggestive Functions for Preparing Concreteness of Idea Labels and Island Names

In recent years, networking has spread substantially owing to the rapid developments made in Information & Communication Technology (ICT). It has also become easy to share highly contextual data and information, including ideas, among people. On the other hand, there exists information that cannot be expressed in words (tacit knowledge) and useful knowledge or know-how that is not shared well in an organization. The idea generation method enables the expression of explicit knowledge, which enables the expression of tacit knowledge by words, and can utilize explicit knowledge as know-how in organizations. We propose an idea generation consistent support system, GUNGEN-Web II. This system has suggestion functions for a concrete idea label and a concrete island name. The suggestion functions convey an idea and the island name to other participants more precisely. This system also has an illustration support function and a document support function. In this study, we aimed to improve the quality of the sentence obtained using the KJ method. We compared the results of our proposed systems with conventional GUNGEN-Web by conducting experiments. The results are as follows: The evaluation of the sentence of GUNGEN-Web II was significantly different to those obtained using the conventional GUNGEN-Web.

Ther:com: An Emotion Transmission System Using Thermal Stimulation, Emotional Icons and Resonance for Competitive Game Scene

We propose an emotion transmission system named "Ther:com" using a temperature perception interface and emotional icons. The system aims to transmit a rich emotional expression between users for competitive game scene and it can send temperature stimulus and emotional icons to a communication partner. A resonant function is also a feature of the system. A resonance is occurred when emotional icons are sent simultaneously. To examine the evaluation of Ther:com, we performed experiments with/without temperature stimulus. The experiments were performed to evaluate "Transmission of feelings and the presence" and "A sense of realty and fun" using "Puyopuyo". "Puyopuyo" is a kind of the puzzle game. The results of experiments shows: (1) A lot of icons indicating strong feelings of pleasure were transmitted significantly when players use temperature stimulation. (2) From the viewpoint of communication, the evaluation of "I felt the existence of the partner close", "The emotion icon helped feelings joint ownership", and "The resonance helped feelings joint ownership" were improved significantly by temperature stimulation. (3) From the viewpoint of fun, the evaluation of "arising" and "I want to carry out a game again" were improved significantly by thermal stimulation.

Proposal and Application of Exercise Continuity Support System Focusing on Photowalking and SNS

In this research, we aim to develop an exercise continuity support system for middle-aged and elderly persons. Lifestyle diseases prevention has become an important issue. There are many systems and services that support continuing exercise for middle-aged and elderly persons who cannot actively perform usual exercises. However, existing services and systems have a problem that the users have to walk out in their intentions. Our proposed system adopts photo sharing SNS and 'PhotoWalk' that is the walking style while taking photographs as a trigger making walking out, mainly for middle-aged and elderly persons. Users can share photographs taken during photowalking, comments on the photos, evaluations, and walking data using the SNS. In addition, the system generates a sense of competition among the users by the photo rankings and walking rankings, and sends an email to provide a feedback to each user. From the result of the experiments, we presented that the half of the subjects were able to continue walking and 71.4% of the subjects became active in walking out.

Proposal and Application of Idea Generation Support System Providing Words of Low Co-occurrence Degree

In this research, we aim to develop an idea generation support system. In brainstorming carried out in users who have poor knowledge about the theme, sometimes they cannot continue divergent thinking because of the lack of knowledge. The proposed system provides hint words associated with a theme so that the hint words encourage idea generation. The system previously collects web texts related to the theme and classifies words into some clusters based on the degree of word co-occurrence. Users request the system to provide hint words, then the system searches through the clusters by words included in the entered ideas and presents hint words from the cluster of the low degree of co-occurrence. From the result of the experiments, we presented that the number of idea increased by 128% and the proposed system may promote a variety of ideas.

健康のための運動としてウォーキングを行う人とその継続を支援するサービスが増加している．しかし，それらのサービスはウォーキングの単調さと同じコースに飽きてしまうという問題を解決できていない．本研究では，ユーザに合った無理のない運動を提供できる，タブレット端末で使用するシステムを開発した．まず，GPSの位置情報をもとに特定の場所でウォーキング中に運動を提示することで楽しさや面白さを与える．また，心拍数をリアルタイムに取得し，それをフィードバックすることによって提示する運動を変更し，運動中の心拍数の上がり過ぎによる過負荷を防ぐ．The support service of walking and its continuity have been increased. There existed problem of monotony of the walking and couses. But existing services could not solve the problem. We have developed a tablet-PC based system that provides reasonable exercise for users. The system presents an exercise at a specific place. Position information of the place is come from a GPS. This function may give pleasure and fun. The heart rate is measured real-timely. The data can change the presentation of kinds of exercise. This mechanism prevents the overload by exercise, which is caused by rising of the heart rate.

Improvement of Web-based Idea Generation Support System GUNGEN-SPIRAL II with Multiple Tablet Devices

We discussed supporting idea generation methods for effective knowledge creation under restriction of time, place and human resources occurred in recent organizations. We have developed a flexible workspace expansion system for idea generation G-Pad with connecting or separating multiple tablet devices, by improving the idea generation support system GUNGEN-SPIRAL II. By experiments with 60 data KJ method, we showed the usability with two tablet devices was significantly higher than that with one device, although there was no significant difference of the KJ result between them. We also observed the user behavior with connected or separated use of two tablet devices as the situation demands. These results showed the effectiveness of G-Pad.

The Effect of Using Photographs in Idea Generation Support System

To investigate how the use of photographs affects creativity, we have developed a system called GUNGEN-PHOTO, in which photographs are used to support idea generation. It consists of a collaborative workspace and personal workspaces and includes two main functions: photograph expansion for effectively extracting ideas from photographs, and outside comment addition for adding comments from personal workspaces. These functions are expected to increase the number of ideas generated. We conducted experiments on idea generation under the themes of "improvement" and "discovery, " and found that more ideas were generated when photographs were used than when only text was used. We also found there were no significant differences in the quality of generated group between them.
