紅海沿岸域は年間降水量が少なく、非常に乾燥しているため、海岸域に生育するヒルギダマシは不連続な群落を形成している。ヒルギダマシはマングローブの内でも最も分布が広く、その範囲は東南アジアやオセアニアを中心として中東や東アフリカ沿岸までおよぶ。東南アジアでは、帯状分布をするマングローブ林群落の内でも最も海に近い部分に生育する。アラビア半島の海岸では内陸部からの真水の供給がないため、マングローブは海水のみで生育しなければならず、耐塩性に優れた本種が主にワジの出口に群落を形成している。群落の地理的な孤立、種子分散に影響する海流の季節パターン、沿岸での過去の人間活動との関係から、紅海沿岸のヒルギダマシはこれまで遺伝的変異が調査されている湿潤な東南アジアなどとは異なる遺伝的構造を保持しているかもしれない。しかしその実態はこれまで調査されていない。本研究では核マイクロサテライト分析より、アフリカ紅海沿岸に生育するヒルギダマシについて過去の集団動態を考察するため、遺伝的多様性の地理的分布を解明し、すでに報告されている地域での遺伝的変異と比較した。

アラビア半島沿岸と紅海のアフリカ側沿岸に成立しているマングローブ林は、種組成の単純さと生育環境の厳しさによって、世界の他の地域のマングローブ林と大きく異なるものである.ここのマングローブ林は不規則で滅多に起こらない洪水に依存して、ワジの入り口やラグーンの内側に、パッチ状に小さな林分を形成している.ほとんどの林分はヒルギダマシ（Avicennia marina）の純林で、紅海の南部では一部でヤエヤマヒルギ（Rhizophora mucronata）が混生する.本研究ではそのヒルギダマシ林の林分構造を解析し、本種の再生産戦略や林分動態について検討した.林分密度が1,000から2,000本／haの林分を3つ選んだ.最大樹高は6.8mしかなく、紅海の高い塩分濃度が本種の成長を強く抑制していることが示唆された.林分の縁が海に開いている林分では、林内への波や風の影響を抑制するために、高密度のマント群落が発達していた.林分の陸側でも乾燥によって成長が抑制されていた.どの林分でも林床には高密度な稚樹バンクを持っていたが、林外での更新は限られていた.

We investigated the growth and the phenology in <I>Chamaecyparis obtusa</I> two-year-old seedlings grown under several controlled temperature conditions of the outdoor temperature altered by ±0.0°C, +1.0°C, +2.0°C and +3.0°C. The results showed that growth period were longer under the warmer conditions, because initiation of elongation were earlier and end of growth were later. There were a greater length of main shoot elongation and diameter of main shoot under +2.0°C and +3.0°C treatments, with a higher ratio of main shoot elongation and H/D ratio, and longer length of branch gaps. Length of lateral branches were longer under the warmer conditions. Thus, length of main shoot elongation and diameter of main shoot were greater under +2.0°C and +3.0°C treatments, but dry weight and T/R ratio remained almost the same. It was thought that the growth and the phenology of <I>Chamaecyparis obtusa</I> should change under the warmer conditions.

１.はじめに&lt;BR&gt; 温暖化をはじめとした環境問題の中，二酸化炭素の固定等，森林の果たす役割は大きい。このため，環境問題に貢献できる森林の保全，育成技術が求められている。持続的な森林利用を前提とした森林育成の面から，地球規模での環境変化へ対応するためには，樹木の環境反応性について理解する必要がある。我々研究グループは，これまで，人工気象室を用いて一定温度を加温する温暖条件をつくり出し，これらの環境下で様々な樹木を育成することで，気温の上昇が樹木の成長と生物季節現象に及ぼす影響について検討してきた。本研究では，気温の上昇が紅葉に及ぼす影響を明らかにする目的で，温暖条件下でウリハダカエデを育成し，気温の上昇がウリハダカエデの成長と生物季節現象に及ぼす影響について検討した。&lt;BR&gt;２.材料および方法&lt;BR&gt; 実験は，和歌山大学システム工学部屋上に設置した自然採光型の人工気象室５基を用いて行った。人工気象室の温度条件は，常に野外の気温より1.0℃低い条件（-1.0℃），野外の気温と同じにした条件（±0.0℃），常に野外の気温よりそれぞれ1.0，2.0，3.0℃高い条件（+1.0℃，+2.0，+3.0区）の５種類とした。湿度はいずれの区も常に野外と同じになるように制御し，日長調節は行わなかった。&lt;BR&gt; 実験に用いたウリハダカエデは，18cmビニールポットに植え付けた３年生実生苗である。2003年６月１日に上述の温度条件に設定した人工気象室のそれぞれに，10個体ずつを搬入し，育成した。なお，実験に用いた実生苗は，実験地の和歌山大学とほぼ同緯度であり，なおかつ同程度の標高に生育していた同一母樹から採取したものである。全ての供試植物を対象に，樹高伸長停止時期，樹高伸長量，地際の肥大成長量，紅葉開始時期，落葉の経過について調査した。&lt;BR&gt;３.結果および考察&lt;BR&gt; 樹高伸長停止時期は，+2.0℃や+3.0℃において早くなった。樹高伸長量は，統計的には処理区間の有意な差が認められなかった。しかし，+1.0℃において樹高伸長が大となる個体が多く認められた。また，+2.0℃や+3.0℃において樹高伸長量が小となる個体が多く認められた。次に，当年枝基部の肥大成長量は，+1.0℃において最も大きくなり，+2.0℃や+3.0℃において小となる傾向が認められた。これらのことから，供試植物の選定には十分留意していたものの，実験地の標高が供試植物の生育に適しておらず，+2.0℃や+3.0℃において高温障害の起こった可能性が考えられた。高温障害の影響により，+2.0℃や+3.0℃において早期に樹高伸長が停止し，樹高伸長量が大とならなかったものと考えられた。にも関わらず，紅葉の開始時期は，±0.0℃において早くなり，+2.0℃や+3.0℃において遅くなった。また，その後の落葉は，-1.0℃において早く進み，+2.0℃や+3.0℃において遅くなった。&lt;BR&gt; 以上の結果，+2.0℃や+3.0℃のような温度条件下では，早期に樹高伸長が停止するものの，紅葉や落葉の進行は遅れると考えられた。このことは，樹高伸長と紅葉や落葉が分離した現象である可能性のあることを示しており，興味深い課題である。また，本研究の結果から，視覚的に気温の上昇の影響を把握する際，紅葉や落葉といったフェノロジーの変化を確認することは，気温の上昇の影響を把握する上で有効な証拠となりうると考えられた。&lt;BR&gt;

&lt;B&gt;1.はじめに&lt;/B&gt;&lt;BR&gt; 温暖化の進行に伴う様々な影響が危惧される中，循環資源の供給等，森林の果たす役割は大きい。そのため，温暖化の進行を防止し，持続的な社会を構築するために森林の保全や育成を行うことは，我々の重要な課題の一つである。そこで，持続的な森林資源の活用を前提とした森林管理を行うためにも，樹木の環境変動に対する反応性を理解する必要がある。&lt;BR&gt; 本研究に先立ち我々研究グループは，人工気象室を用いて常に一定温度を加温する条件の下でスギ&lt;I&gt;Cryptomeria japonica&lt;/I&gt;を育成することで，夏季の気温の上昇がスギに及ぼす影響を検討した（2003年報告）。本研究では，2003年の報告で言及できなかった現象について，追加の実験を行い検討した。&lt;BR&gt;&lt;B&gt;2.材料および方法&lt;/B&gt;&lt;BR&gt; 実験には，和歌山大学システム工学部屋上に設置した５基の自然採光型人工気象室を用いた。人工気象室内の温度条件は，実測した気温より常に+1.0℃，+2.0℃，+3.0℃加温した条件（+1.0℃，+2.0℃，+3.0℃），野外の気温と同じ条件（±0.0℃），野外の気温より常に1.0℃低い条件（-1.0℃）の５種類とした。湿度はいずれの処理区も外気に追従するよう制御し，日長調整は行わなかった。&lt;BR&gt; 供試植物は，直径30cmの腐食布ポットに植え付けた，和歌山産のスギの２年生挿し木苗とした。2003年６月１日に，各処理区につき14個体ずつ搬入し，実験を開始した。その後，全ての供試個体を対象に，成長停止時期および成長期間を観察した。さらに，成長停止後には，樹高伸長量，節間長，分枝数を測定した。なお，供試個体搬入時に，すでに全個体は同じ条件の下で成長を開始していたことから，成長開始から供試個体搬入までの期間は，本研究の加温処理と関連しないものと取り扱った。そこで，本研究でいう成長期間とは，供試個体搬入時から成長停止までの期間とした。&lt;BR&gt;&lt;B&gt;3.結果および考察&lt;/B&gt;&lt;BR&gt; 加温区における成長停止時期は，温度が高くなるほど遅くなるという傾向が認められた。また，供試個搬入後から伸長停止までの成長期間は，加温区ほど成長期間が長くなった。&lt;BR&gt; 一方，樹高伸長量については，+2.0℃や+3.0℃において大となる傾向が認められた。この結果および加温区における成長期間の長期化は，2003年報告の実験結果を支持するものであった。したがって，夏季の気温の上昇により，スギの樹高伸長量は大きくなると考えられた。１日当たりの樹高伸長量については，+2.0℃や+3.0℃において大となる傾向が認められた。このことから，+2.0℃や+3.0℃程度の温度上昇下では，スギの樹高伸長速度も大きくなると考えられた。&lt;BR&gt; さらに，樹枝と樹枝の間の長さである分枝間長は，+2.0℃で大となる傾向が認められ，主軸の分枝数は，+3.0℃で大となる傾向が認められた。&lt;BR&gt; 以上の結果，気温の上昇により，スギの成長期間は長くなり，特に+2.0℃や+3.0℃程度の温度上昇下では，樹高伸長速度も大きくなると考えられた。これらのことが相乗し，スギの樹高伸長量は，気温の上昇の影響によって大きくなると考えられた。また，気温の上昇が，スギの分枝間長を大にした結果から，+2.0℃や+3.0℃程度の温度上昇下では，スギの細胞が肥大する可能性が考えられた。この点については，今後の検討課題としている。&lt;BR&gt;

For seven species of grasshoppers, air temperature and substrate on which grasshoppers settled, and distance from ground level to the site on which grasshoppers settled were investigated in four grassy spaces with different vegetation coverage, vegetation height and predominant plant species, to clarify environmental factors which affect inhabitation of grasshoppers in grassy space of park. All the seven species of grasshoppers investigated are not monophagous, but oligophagous or polyphagous. Generally, air temperature of site where Atractomorpha late settled seemed to be lowest, followed by Acrida cinerea antennate, and Aiolopus thalassinus tamulus. Gastrimargus marmoratus, Locusta migratoria, and Chorthippus bigutturus maritimus settled on the sites near earth surface, and air temperature near the sites was relatively high. Atractomorpha late and Acrida cinerea antennate inhabited higher places of the grassy place where vegetation coverage was high, and Trilophidia japonica settled only the earth surface of the grassy place where the vegetation coverage was lower. It was suggested that the grasshopper regulates its body temperature by changing stationary position. Therefore the air temperature and the vegetation structure should be important environmental factors of the grasshopper habitats, because they might constrain a certain body temperature and stationary position of the grasshoppers.

Relationship between leaf temperature and photosynthetic ratio of cherry tree

We investigated the relations between leaf-air temperature and photosynthetic ratio of cherry trees in order to obtain the fundamental data for applying the biological information to the remote sensing system. Some branches of Prunus jamasakura were cut and put into the water pot prompt once per month from May to October 2001. We measured the surface temperature of ten leaves and photosynthetic ratio every five second for ten minutes every measurement air temperature condition at 20, 25, 30 and 35degreesC with 1000 PAR light intensity. Result as, there was recognized the small significantly relation between leaf temperature and photosynthetic ratio because leaf temperature is usually changed with air temperature. Although, there was recognized large significantly correlations between the difference of the leaf temperature and air temperature and photosynthetic ratio. It is thought that transpiring in healthy plants are active for absorption of water and it cause to drop the leaf temperature. This research showed that the health of cherry trees could be diagnosed for measurement of the difference of leaf and air temperature.

When we do aerial photography and. an environmental research, a remote control helicopter (R/C helicopter) is excellent tool in the next point. For example, the cost of aerial photography and an environmental research work by R/C helicopter are low, also R/C helicopter pilot reservation fee are low price, and free from aviation law in Japan. But, R/C helicopter maneuvering and aerial photographing skills are necessary, and these are difficult to learn. Additionally, if the visibility of R/C helicopter is getting bad when it goes far away, operation is getting difficult. These problems are caused by the badness of autonomous stability on R/C helicopter system.
In this study, we propose a new angle detection sensor for 3 axial rotations which is based on the development of the easy and safe steering system for the operation person.

Environment preservations of the forest become world-widely close-up. The remote sensing technologies by satellite have been used for observation of the forest. However, the observation system on the ground is also needed because the remote sensing by satellite is seriously hindered by atmospheric phenomena and detailed data are necessary for precise analysis of the state of forest. Therefore we developed a multispectral infrared camera system for plant healthiness monitoring. The infrared camera system has five infrared bandpass filters. A hue is defined from the five infrared images. We performed several experiments to confirm that the hue changes according as the plant healthiness decline. In this paper, we propose a plant healthiness evaluation method by detecting hue changes with time. Experimental results of observation of hue changes of a plant through a day using the multispectral infrared camera system are shown. The results show that hue in healthiness parts of plants are more stable than in weak parts when the circumambient conditions such as the sunshine condition are changed.

The Japanese forestry industry has been significantly affected by the increase in low-price timber imports and a diminishing work force. This has had a direct impact on the level of maintenance of the coniferous forests. In this paper, we examine the development of local domestic energy supply schemes in conjunction with effective forest maintenance plans based on data from Landsat/TM imagery. We examined regions in which coniferous forests experienced various levels of blight and to investigated the introduction of energy supply systems using such forests. Both sound and blighted coniferous forests were examined and the characteristics of each area quantified. The supply of energy to a small town using a local blighted coniferous forest was examined. It is estimated that the use of existing wood burning technologies and an effective forest maintenance plan would result in the supply of power to 30% of the households in the town.

In this study, we carried out an experimental restoration of the floor vegetation of the secondary stands of Quercus serrata which became uncovered caused by trampling. The study sites were located in a suburban district of Tokyo, and the experiment was carried out from June to September in 1998. We collected data before the restoration compared them with those obtained at the end of three-month experiment period. The results revealed that the height and the coverage of herb layer did not change significantly. However, the number of recorded species in herb layer increased after the restoration and it showed a correlation with the area of the studied stands and with the calculated stand area available per person living within 250 meters of the examined stands. Furthermore, the number of trampling intolerant species having non-rosette and non-turf forms, considered as characteristic species of the secondary Q. serrata stands, increased after the restoration. This also correlated with the area of Q.serrata stands around the examined stands that existed in 1974. These relations show that not only the area of the present stands but the past landscape in their surroundings should be incorporated as an index when evaluating restoration potential of stand floor vegetation.

We developed a remote meteorological observation system and interactive data publishing system on the web. Meteorological sensors collect data and send it to the DBMS. When students retrieve past data on the web, the data are brought with XML. Therefore the data can be transformed by XSLT with XSL style format in accordance with students' demand. The system has flexible GUI by using XML. Also the system can generate some pairs of problem and answer automatically to learn meteorology. This system will contribute to science education.

本研究では,地球温暖化にともなう冬季の温度上昇がサクラの開花におよぼす影響について明らかにする目的で,サクラの個体を野外の温度条件に常に-1.5℃,0.0℃,+1.5℃,+3.0℃,+4.5℃の温度較差を設定した人工気象室内で育成し,開花等のフェノロジーを調べた.その結果,開花時期は温度の高い区で促進されるものの,開花日の温度条件,花芽の膨らみだしから開花までに必要とする積算温度が上昇することを明らかにした.そして,冬季の温度上昇はサクラの開花に対する温度反応性を鈍らせることを指摘した.

Relationship between shape-archtecture of <I>Miscanthus sacchariflorus</I> community and bio-diversity of the thysanopteran insects on banks in Kyoto City was examined in the summer of 1998 to clarify functional potential of <I>M. sacchariflorus</I> community for habitat of the minute insects and to review direction in the conservation of them. The <I>M. sacchariflorus</I> communities selected for the present study were three types of vegetation showing different shape and scale. The quality of the thrips bio-diversity was estimated based on the species richness, the individuals richness, the pestiferous potential, the food habit, and the wing-form. As a result, for the conservation of the thrips bio-diversity and in the amenities of urban river bank, the more important point in the managenent of the <I>M. sacchariflorus</I> community seemed to be not to enhance the linear and horizontal succession but to keep the vertical extent (3-dimensional archtecture) and the shoot persistence.

Development of multispectral infrared camera system for plant healthiness evaluation

Environment preservations of the forest become world-widely close-up. The remote sensing technologies have been used for observation of the forest. However, the remote sensing by satellite is seriously hindered by atmospheric phenomena and cannot get the detailed data, which are necessary for precise analysis of the state of forest. So the observation system on the ground is needed. In this paper, we develop a multispectral infrared camera system to investigate the continuous spectra of mid-range infrared whose wavelengths cover around 3000nm to 5000nm. We define hue value in the case that the number of primary image is more than three. An algorithm to calculate the hue value from multispectral infrared images is proposed to obtain spectrum change of plants. An experiment of observation using the multispectral infrared camera system when the plant is growing week from cutting water off is shown.

In this paper, we researched and investigated the living densities of grasshoppers in the Osaka and Higashi Osaka city along the Kintetsu-Nara railroad line. Twelve experimental circles (r=250m) are settle on the area of each railroad stations. Grasshoppers in the experimental circles are caught by the sweeping method by two persons and they are discriminated and identify the species. The results are follows;<BR>1) Living densities of grasshoppers along the research line increase as an exponential function and if we express this by the regression equation, y = e<SUP>0.363x-1.699</SUP> (y: living density of grasshoppers, x: distance from the Tsuruhashi station).<BR>2) It can be considered that there is no effect of the size and the compositions of the open space for the living densities of grasshoppers.

本研究では,地球温暖化が樹木のフェノロジーに及ぼす影響を明らかにするため,気象庁の観測によるソメイヨシノの開花日について近年の温暖化データを加えたうえで緯度別に再整理した.その結果,冬季の温度上昇がおこると,北方では開花が早くなるが,南方では開花が遅れることが再確認された.逆に厳冬の場合では南方で開花が早まることも明らかとなった.さらに,花芽形成から開花までの低温日の日数が多くなるほど開花日の日平均気温が低下する傾向を認め,地球温暖化が進行した場合,南方では休眠解除を促進する低温が不足し,開花が遅れる可能性を指摘した.

The purposes of this study are to obtain a preliminary knowledge for the re-forestry of slope areas with endemic plants stored in a forest soils. The examination area was built on the road side slope in Kagawa pref.. The altitude is about 200m, the direction of the slope surface is S34°W and the average gradient is 34°. On 16-18, March and 17-18, June 1997, the experimental soil was picked at three different points, first at a ridge area of the mountain, second at a middle area and third at a dale area of the same mountain and packed them in the jute sandbags. After two years the examination area is covered with many plants. The plants density are 4.4-13.1 stems/sqm and 15-26 spaces are confirmed in the one separated area. The predominant plants in this area are Mallotus japonicus, Rhus javanica, Araria elata and other pioneer plants. In the area of ridge soil packing sandbags, a lot of Miscanthus sinensis spring up and hang over the other plants. The well covered areas by these plants are protected from soil erosion. The relation between the erosion ratio(%):(y) and the sum up plants coverage ratio(%):(x) is calculated and the regression equation is y = -0.11x + 33.3 (r=-0.521^*).

To cralify the formation of the structure of forest stands created by 'ecological tree planting' techniqe in artificial islands and its potential for habitats of insects, the conditions of the stands and the insect fauna were investigated in an artificial island (on the fifteenth year after planting) and neighboring areas at Gobo city. In the island, the numbers of species and individuals of ground beetles such as silphid and carabid beetles were few, however, a large number of cicadas, particularly Cryptotympana facialis, were inhabiting in the island. The adult cicadas abounded in the stands showing well developed vegetation layers, and the upper layer were mainly composed of Machilus thunbergu and Elaecocarpus sylvestris. But most of the cicadas seemed to oviposit and/or moult into adults in the stands without such upper layer. In general, stands composed of Quercus phillyraeoides and Rhaphiolepis indica were utilized as oviposition and/or emergence place.

The impacts of the long-distance transportation of plant materials for the revegetation on local populations of insects.

These days, plant materials for the revegetation have been transported over the long distance in Japan. Because the plant materials have been carried with large quantities of soil and other plants, they must have been accompanied by many living things, including a wide range of insects. In this paper, we demonstrated that the evidence of the genetic divergence among five local populations of the small insect, <I>Thrips nigropilosus</I>, living on the one of the plant materials for the revegetation, <I>Artemisia princeps</I>; critical daylengths at 18°C for induction of the reproductive diapause and the brachypterous form in females of four populations, Wakkanai, Abashiri, Kyoto and Nagasaki populations, were between 11hrs and 14hrs and different from each other, whereas Naha population dose not show critical daylengths between 8hrs and 15hrs. Inter-population crosses between the local populations probably disturbe their genetic constructions. This possibly results in a decrease in the number of individuals in the population, because the diapause and the wing form are life history traits directly affecting the reproductive success. Thus, the transportation of the plant materials may disturbe genetic construction of local populations of living things. A general rule for the use of plant materials for the revegetation should be proposed.

Phlox subulata L. were grown in two cold conditions ; at 5℃ and outdoor, for 0,20,40 and 60 days from Dec. 4. Then the plants were transferred to two growth chambers under 20 hrs photoperiod ; at 25℃ constant, and day/night temperature at 25/18℃ (Experiment 1). In the summer, the other plants were grown in two cold conditions ; at 10℃ and 15℃, for 5,10,15,25 and 40 days from July 25. Then the plants were carried to outdoor (Experiment 2). Many inflorescences were formed in the chilled treatments of Experiment 1,however only a few inflorescence was formed in the not chilled treatments of Experiment 1,and in the all treatments of Experiment 2. These results indicated that P.subulata required cold stimulation to form inflorescences only in the winter. So P.subulata is the faculative chilling required plant. The shoot lengths were shorter as the chilled periods were longer. There were negative relationships between lengths of shoots and numbers of inflorescenses (P≦0.05). The relationships seem to be one of the correlative inhibition phenomenon.

緑化樹木の生物季節に関する研究

数種の緑化樹木を対象に,その季節変化である生物季節現象を年間を通じて比較し,それらの花芽形成と開花に係る温度,日長特性について解明した.さらに,研究対象とした成長型の異なる緑化樹木のいずれもが,葉芽と花芽の発育は相互抑制の関係にあることを解明すると同時に,葉芽の発育の抑制が花芽の発育を促進することを明らかにした.また,開花の温度・日長特性は天然分布を変化させてきたことを指摘し,地球温暖化が生物季節現象と緑化木の植栽可能域に影響することに論及した.

In order to understand the growth of Ophiopogon japonicus forma nanus hort., Sedum sarmentosum, Sedum makinoi, and Sedum mexicanum under the artificial environment, these groundcover plants were experimentally cultivated in the incubators with only white fluorescent lamp. Especially, cultivating soil and fertilizer of O. japonicus forma nanus were only perlite(M1) and liquid fertilizer(N : P : K=5 : 10 : 5), respectively. O. japonicus forma nanus grew under 2400 Lx. lighting during fifteen hours or twenty hours. On this condition, survival rate of this plants were 100 percent for five months. The survival rate of S. sarmentosum, S. makinoi, and S. mexicanum were 100 percent after six months under 500 Lx., 1000 Lx. and 2000 Lx. lighting for seventeen hours in a day. These three species grew under 1000 Lx. or 2000 Lx. lighting, satisfactorily. The leave of S. sarmentosum, which leafed out under the experiment condition, were more roundish and larger than under natural light condition.

近年問題となっている水田の荒廃は,食糧問題のみならず,人里の生態環境や景観を劣化させる.この要因としては,日本における減反政策と水田の収益性の低さがあげられる.このため,低コスト稲作栽培として開発された湛水土壌中散播栽培でジャポニカイネの最大収量を得る群落密度を植物生理学的側面から検討し,1m{$^{2}$}当たり100～120個体の成立密度下で最大収量が得られることを解明した.さらに,水田面積の減少回避の可能性と重要性を示した.
