¿Quién es Manini Ríos? Desde que fue destituido de su cargo de comandante en Jefe del Ejército uruguayo,formó su partido político Cabildo Abierto,se postuló como candidato presidencial de las elecciones generales del2019 y empezó rápidamente a captar popularidad significante entre votantes.La situación genera varias inquietudes. ¿Es un fenómeno semejante al que tuvo Brasil del2018?, ¿Por quése lanzó como político?, ¿Cuáles son sus visiones y proyectos políticos,en que están apoyados,por quién y por cuál motivo? Los autores del presente artículo planteanen lugar de etiquetarlo como"Bolsonaro uruguayo"-señalar a este aparente"outsider"heredero de la clase alta tradicional política y del sector católico conservador, y que sintoniza con la creciente exigencia de medidas de "mano dura"en la seguridad ciudadana en toda la región.Los autores también intentarán caracterizar esta nueva figura"lobista",que actúua como representante de los intereses económicos del sector militar que ha sido marginado en la sociedad uruguaya durante las últimas décadas.
