We researched cases for community development utilizing the watershed area nationwide. We conducted a questionnaire survey on "Let's go to the river!" and "Stylish re・Bar" which was held in Hino River. Fukui Prefecture intended to effectively utilize the community developments. It is highly expected as a place to contribute to the community development, such as the initiatives in the "Arakawa" and the "City of Hiroshima water" and the watershed residents are hoping to about what are ways to utilize from Hino River.

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the riverside space and find an essence of constructing beautiful and ecological villages. In this study, we have carried out case studies on riverside districts, Itako, Ohmi-Hachiman, and Harie, and analyzed their morphological characteristic. With these studies, we have found four types in the riverside districts, which are district of picture, of traffic, of sightseeing and of ecology. By means of the typology, we found that how the word of Saigon could be divided in the meaning.

In this study, we have carried out social experiments and held an exhibition, called "FUKUINO MACHINO MONOGATARITEN" in order to reveal the urban potential of city of Fukui. Before the exhibition, we have done several workshops, which are Make-up for filmmaking, BURA-FUKUI, and Film shooting, for citizen of Fukui. On the exhibition, we introduced archives of Fukui air raid, Fukui earthquake and interviews on Kiju Yoshida, a film director born in Fukui, and so on. Furthermore, we opened a symposium on how we can find and spread the narrative story on city and make them use for urban planning.. In this paper, we wrote and discuss about the exhibition.

In this study, we have carried out social experiments, called "Fukui Street Film Show" and "Virtual Products Development", in order to grope for a new methodology in community development. Both of the experiments can be understood as social events on theme of combining memory and imagination. The memory would be defined to be attached to the place by means of knowing the past of the place in this paper. And, the imagination could be explained to be taken to space by installing the virtual dimension of the space with computer graphics. With the memory and imagination, we would write how the new methodology of media design could be applied to community development.

Space, to be distilled in a long time, for example, vernacular architectures, villages raising us a kind of feeling: nostalgia. We can conjecture that the natural organic spatial forms have been matured by solving conflicts among topography, climate, dwellers' prevalence or their demands for daily life, and so on. Thus, it is reasonable to suppose that a form is a result of consensus within ideal and reality. The aim of this paper is set out to understand a mechanism of the consensus and suggest a new morphological viewpoint on Space.

Since the Meiji period, almost all Japanese cities had been uniformly remodeled under the strong influence of modernization, in an attempt to catch up with the western countries. Nevertheless, modernization was a single vector ; the cities had not been modeled in a uniform manner. In fact, the construction of Japanese cities involved a long process that was intended to fulfill the spatial urges of the past dwellers. This paper aims to analyze the process by which a castle city had been reformed in a modern city. For the purpose, we investigated the process of urban modernization in Fukui City.
