    <p> A program that works as a Docker container and generates information retrieval services was developed. When one sends documents, the program makes Dockerfile and other files which are a source of Docker containers for an information retrieval service. By using this program, the registered documents are indexed and we can afford a full-text search without releasing the possessed contents to the public or uploading them on cloud services. Furthermore we made evaluation experiments with more than 60,000 blog articles on disaster prevention.</p>

    <p> Throughout information processing education provided for the first-year students of Faculty of Systems Engineering, Wakayama University, they did not adequately take an opportunity for review. To solve the problem we adopted e-learning which one can use anytime and anywhere and we constructed a system that supplies quintuple-choice tests about what the students learned in class. This system also helps the teachers discover inappropriate or unnecessary questions by means of the visualization of response variance. An evaluation experiment showed that a faulty question brought a lower accuracy rate while it took a longer time for the choice.</p>

    Many people think about disaster prevention and reduction for real with increasing natural disasters such as earthquake and heavy rain. Web articles appear promising when we obtain information on disasters. However since there exist a number of articles about disasters, one cannot always get intended information or decide immediately that the articles are beneficial. In this research, we attempt an automatic classification of the articles for the purpose of a disaster article database that we will construct. The classifier takes out words from each article and uses machine learning for categorization where the article is labeled as one of "disaster prevention", "support", "heavy rain", and "earthquake". This paper describes the classifier together with a classification experiment.

    During idea creation, storing information and knowledge into a computer for visualization makes clear the relationship among pieces of information and enables us to get the whole story of the design. In this research, we focused on M Method which supports a multispace design process, and developed the prototypes of generating Scalable Vector Graphics images that represent M Method charts. We defined the data structure in consideration of the fact that such a chart has a tree structure under the containment relationships, and the prototypes compute the coordinates of rectangular regions in a recursive way.

  • Automatic Conversion of SQL statements into NoSQL queries

    For storing and managing enormous data, NoSQL databases have been employed recently on behalf of RDB since NoSQL is high-performance and scalable. However the differences of the data structures and the manipulation languages give the developers pause in making the shift to the systems using NoSQL. In this paper, we report a converter which takes an SQL statement as input to generate an equivalent code of target language of NoSQL. MongoDB and HBase were selected as the target languages while we attempted to implement an SQL analyzer and coordinate the code segments of the programming languages. As the result of the evaluation experiment, 13 MongoDB queries and 9 HBase ones were derived from 32 example SQL statements.

    It is not possible to retrieve something that one wants deep in the mountains, using the full-text search system which we have developed for bibliographic data of documents in temple, since the system needs the access to the server. In this paper, we report a new system in stand-alone mode which works with an Ultra Mobile PC without communicating to any external computer. For constructing the system, the Windows operating system is employed instead of Linux, while the bibliographic data and the search engine software are unchanged. We implemented the interfaces for record registration and annotation as well as the features which the conventional system offered. The retrieval experiments made no difference between both search systems with regard to the retrieval results, and showed that the stand-alone system displayed results within two seconds after the user gave the search term.

  • Full-text Search System for Bibliographic Data of Ancient Documents

    Ancient documents and scriptures in the temples provide a clue to the clarification of various historical phenomena such as their background and the human relationships, due to the colophons and other bibliographic elements. We constructed a document retrieval system powered by the full-text search engine Hyper Estraier, where 44,135 records are registered. To discharge the problems of time-consuming or error-prone input of search terms, we improved the search interface so that the users can see the resulting documents with the keywords highlighted for further search. For that purpose, we found 6,690 keywords in bibliographic data. The words about eras and persons were produced or extracted and subsequently filtered through the full-text search. Those about temples and places were obtained by a text-mining approach aiming at the suffix characters. The keywords are stored in a relational database apart from the full-text index. Using the database, we implemented the feature of calculating the position of the keywords for a given string efficiently. The experiment showed that the precision and the recall of the detected keywords on 120 bibliographic documents were greater than 90%.

The words of Japanese year are made of the imperial era names and the numbers to filter through the full-text search.     We have constructed the healthcare supporting systems for aged people, for patients with diabetes, and for pediatric patients and their families. In these systems, the people in need of nursing care actively and regularly send the healthcare data while the medical personnel view them to make use of subsequent medical services or nursing cares. The architecture is almost common to these systems in the sense that there exists a web and database server together with Internet-enable devices. However, since the data in the databases and to be exchanged were entirely difficult, the systems have been designed, implemented and maintained separately. In this paper, we review the features of the systems, and discuss the united, versatile database system for remote healthcare support.

    We have taken the picture images of all the Buddhist canons in the possession of Kongoji, using digital cameras. Although those images are so vivid and easy to view, it is quite hard to find some character or phrase from that file. In addition, it is not effective or practical to manage tens of thousands of the images only by means of their file names. For smoothing these difficulties away, we are constructing a database system together with a prototype viewer which meets viewability and searchability. The searchability is based on the existing text files of the canons, since most canons in Kongoji correspond to those of Taisho Tripitaka whose text files are available on the Internet. Therefore we attempts to recognize the character regions of the image files automatically, and to develop the interfaces which help one relate the location of the character region to the position of the character in the text file.

    We present an outline of our developing database system of priests in Heian and Kamakura Periods, and then, we report an activity over the last year in which we attempt to display the genealogical tables using SVG. In developing the database system, we have focused on (1) how to register and retrieve literature information, (2) how to register and retrieve person information, (3) how to find and display the human relationship between two persons, and (4) how to make up genealogical trees. By using this system, the re-searchers can register, search, and browse the records efficiently, while they will find novel human relationships behind the genealogical trees. In contrast to the expectations, the displayed genealogical tables have some problems and limitations due to the implementation with Java. To make the tables easy to read and use, we consider and partially implement the visualization system with SVG. We attempt to realize the representation of Chinese characters by embedding the glyph data in the generated SVG files.

    Among the researchers who investigate the society in Heian and Kamakura periods, a comprehensive database of the persons and literatures together with a user-friendly retrieving service has been required. In this paper, we present a database system based on Buddhist scriptures and genealogical trees of both the blood relationship and the master-pupil relationship. We experimentally construct the database, while we implement the retrieval services which apply to the database. With these services, the user can not only see a single genealogical tree but obtain two genealogical trees to understand the human relationship between the specified two persons. Moreover we consider how to store a number of records of person and literature smoothly in the database. Finally, we propose and implement a constructing method of the genealogical trees by a bottom-up approach. By using this system, the researchers can register the records efficiently, and they will find novel human relationships behind the genealogical trees.

    We develop a database system for managing the data of the people and their relationships in Heian and Kamakura Periods of Japan. The system cannot only retrieve persons from several genealogical tables but also find a key person between two given persons. Human relationships can be displayed as genealogical trees according to blood or denominations. Moreover we attempt to supply a registration method using GUI, where genealogical trees with level one are registered and later the trees are unified into larger ones. Since the information for data management such as the person's serial number is hidden, the users can register the records and view the genealogical tables without thinking of the database management system.

    経典画像と既存のテキストファイルを対照表示させてテキスト部を編集可能とし,経典画像と同一内容のテキストファイルを効率良く作成することを目指して構築した,漢訳仏典翻刻支援システムについて述べる.本システムの特徴として,主にソフトウェア開発で用いられているバージョン管理ソフトウェアSubversionを導入し,テキストデータの履歴管理を行っている点,また編集を複数の作業者が同時に実施するための機能だけでなく,専門家がその差分表示を見比べて妥当なテキストを選定もしくは作成するための機能も実装した点があげられる.この分業体制を通じて,各参加者の小さな労力により,質の高い経典テキストデータの作成が期待できる.経典画像として金剛寺一切経撮影画像,既存テキストとして大正新脩大蔵経テキストデータを用いて評価実験を行い,有効性を確認した.We developed the support system of transcription for Chinese translated Buddhist sutras so that users can smoothly compose the text file. In this system, the version management software Subversion is introduced for maintaining the history of text files. In addition, we implemented not only the interface for rewriting by operators who look at a pair of shot image and editable text file, but that for choice or editing by an expert who can read the differential lines. Based on the division of labor, the system will be expected to produce text files which coincide with the shot images while the participants use their energy modestly. We conducted the experiments using shot images of Kongoji Issaikyo and the text data derived from Taisho Tripitaka to confirm the efficacy.

    The purpose of this study was that children in home medical care and their family could come to communicate with medical staffs at any time and lead a high quality of life in relief at home. We examined the medical needs of the patients and their family, and made medical information contents necessary for a system. On the basis of these contents, we constructed the system by using information technology (IT) for home-visiting nursing. We examined the utility and validity of this IT system by making a hearing investigation of the two pairs of patients' parents and the staff working for a home-visiting nursing station. As a result, we could hear their feelings that they were relieved because they could be taken care of by the medical staff at any time and they hoped to continue using this system in the future. In addition, it was suggested that the construction of this IT system was useful in responses to troubles and problems happening out of home-visiting time, and reinforcement of a heartwarming bond between medical staffs and parents-and-child in home medical care. We want to apply the system to other kinds of home medical care because the system can be operated in any area with few economic burdens.

    Text data are indispensable for retrieving the image among the digital archive of enormous files taken with digital cameras. We constructed a full-text search system of over 9,000 text files of Taisho Tripitaka, using Hyper Estraier as the search engine. To identify the text file, one can specify not only the phrases in a traditional way but the characters positioned hosizontally in a Buddhist canon written vertically. Another approach of the text processing is introduced, which helps the user to view the Buddhist canon images and the line-by-line corresponding text data at the same time.

    We propose a new business method for electronic commerce that profits cost-cutting and advertising effect. The target of our method includes a small or medium sized enterprises short on staff, shopping malls that want to secure regular customers, and companies in service sectors that attempt to take a differential strategy. Based on the business method, we actually develop a prototype support system of gift creation. We implemented CMS modules which holds easy installation and high system generality.

    About three years have passed since the introduction of public nursing care insurance, and the necessity for the operation supporting system has been increasing. In this paper, our developing system is explained which manages a database including the information required for the operations about elderly care insurance. The system should be ready for use anytime and anywhere. We have our system meet the need by introducing a personal digital assistant. The voice recognition and a tablet input are available for the inputting interface, and the user who has weak consciousness in a computer shall also use the system without feeling the resistance.

    We have been developing a Web application for diagnostic on-line questionnaires together with the question configuration and the score correction. The system returns a number calculated by the response to the questionnaire and by the weighting functions which are established by the questions and the answers. The feature of our system is that the weighting functions can be variable according to the response database. In other words, the result is always optimized by the reply data collected in the past. Moreover, we implement several supporting facilities, such as the creation of the questions, the configuration of the weighting functions, and the maintenance of the response database. Then the system is applied to a risk judging questionnaire of apoplexy in order to verify the validity of the correction technique of the weighting functions.

    In recent years, electronic commercial transactions have been getting popular. We attend to develop an electronic shopping mall available to the Internaet. This shopping mall is constructed by a server computer for receiving the orders together with existing databases of the stores which are connected with the server computer. For giving fresh information of the goods to the purchasers, it is indispensable that the server computer and each trader's database frequently exchange messages. We also supply the methods which support the communication. Gathering traders of the same goods will lead to a commercial competition. As a result, purchasers will buy fine goods at a lower cost, while the sales dealer will make it easier to secure the new customers and repeaters.

  • Search and Management Technology for Large Number of 2D Images

    We developed a system which enables users to register a large number of 2D images efficiently and to retrieve the image which matches his or her wish. In this system, the user can register, modify and delete the image data together with attributes through a Web browser, since CGI programs which the Web server executes access the image database. An experimental result shows that this method reduced the registration time to about l/7 against the traditional way of user's inputting SQL sentences. For image retrieval, we attempted to construct the category structure according to which the image data are classified. Furthermore we developed experimentally a retrieval system for images of tray (or "Bon") and nests of boxes (or "Jubako"), and verified that the user can retrieve the expected images easily. We also use the function of similar image retrieval to detect the duplicate image registration, and to help the more detailed image retrieval.

    We develop a support system which realizes collaborative designs of 3D computer graphics through a computer network. Although there have been developed several network collaboration support systems which deal with 3D graphics, they requires all the users to have the technical knowledge and skill to handle 3D graphics. Our system, however, permits communicating 2D images and text data, which enables smooth collaborations even if some users have little knowledge and skill of 3D graphics. This paper explains several components of our system; user authentication, user interface and distribution right.
