携帯端末を用いて位置情報を使ったガイドシステムが多数開発されてきている．しかし，一方向の情報の伝達が主流であり，現在の日本では日常化している携帯電話での個人的な写真のその場での交換やチャットの機能はなく，観光客同士の積極的なコミュニケーションや情報の共有は念頭に置かれていない．そこで画像，チャット，および相互の位置情報を含むリアルタイムの情報共有機能を持つ，汎用ガイドシステムのプロトタイプであるxExplorer を開発した．そしてこれを用いて，日本（大阪ミナミ周辺）と中国（故宮博物院）で実験を行い，その効果を検証した．被験者は日本人と中国人である．その結果，次のことが分かった．（1）画像情報の共有機能の評価が日本と中国のいずれの場合も高かった．これは他の人の視点をその場でリアルタイムで共有できるためと考えられた．（2）チャットは単にコミュニケーションをとるだけではなく，共有する画像コンテンツの連絡の手段として使うなど，画像が主でチャットが従な使用方法が注目された．（3）画像とチャットとをなんらかな形で連携し，チャットの会話の対象となっている画像が探しやすくする機能が必要である．（4）待合せの場所など様々な情報に直接画像を添付する機能が必要である．There have been developed many guide systems using location information. But most of systems have one-way communication system. These systems don't aim to mutual communication between sightseers by information sharing. The two-way communication, such as a chat or exchanging digital files included photos, is a common sense in Japanese ubiquitous society. Therefore, we have developed a prototype universal guide system, which was named xExplorer. xExplorer has real-time information sharing functions including image data, a chat, and mutual location information. We applied the system to the streets in the southern bound of Osaka and the Palace museum in Beijing. Subjects were Japanese and Chinese. The results of experiments show below: (1) The evaluation of the image data sharing function was high in both Japanese and Chinese. Because they can share the others with view points in real timely. (2) The chat was used for not only communication but also explaining relating shared contents. Sometimes, the content of chat messages is about an image data. (3) The system should have a function that helps the correlation between image data and chats. Then, the image data, which is an object of chats, can be found easily. (4) It is necessary that image should be appended with other information such as the meeting point, etc.

異文化コラボレーションへのマルチメディア電子会議システムの適用とその効果

動画像・音声通信機能，感情表示キャラクタ付き翻訳チャット機能，共有ホワイトボード機能などを持つ電子会議システムRemoteWadaman III を設計した．異文化コラボレーションにおけるマルチメディア支援機能の効果を測定するために，これを用いて，日中間でお互いの母国語（中国語と日本語）を使った研究を発表し，それに対して他の参加者が質問をする形態のコラボレーション実験を8 回行った．その結果(1) 相手が内容を理解できない母国語を使ってプレゼンテーションを行っても，英語を使用したときと同じ程度の，おおよそ70%の内容を直感的ではあるが理解できると感じたことが分かった．(2) 絵文字は自動的に付加されるものを含め，日本側で59%の文に表示された．クエスチョンマーク（? 記号）およびそれに相当する絵文字は17%の文に存在した．絵文字だけのチャットが5%存在し，絵文字でのコミュニケーションも行われていた．これらより絵文字が異文化コラボレーションを支援する補助的な言語として使われていることが示唆された．We have designed an intercultural teleconference system "RemoteWadaman III" and applied to presentations between Japan and China. RemoteWadaman III has the communication functions of text translation, a shared screen, shared pointers, a shared whiteboard, audio and video communication, a chat with pictograph. We use every function to understand about a presentation of partners. We carried out the experiment 8 times for measuring the effects of the multimedia support functions. We report the results of experiments as below. (1) The subjects thought that they understood about 70% of the content of the partner's presentation intuitively even if they didn't understand their partner's language. The rate of understanding was almost the same as they used English for discussion. (2) 59% of the sentence of chats has pictograph. Question mark and/or its pictograph existed about 17% of the whole sentence. 5% of the sentence consisted of only pictograph. These results suggested that pictograph could be used as supporting language of intercultural collaboration.

GUNGEN DX II：数百のラベルを対象としたグループ編成支援機能を持つ発想支援グループウェア

これまでに，KJ 法を複数の計算機上で支援する発想支援グループウェア郡元を様々な実験に適用してきた．いずれもラベル数が100 枚程度の実験であったが，より多くのラベルを扱うと，さらに良い結果が現れることが期待される．しかし，多数のラベルの内容を把握してKJ 法を行うためには，そのための機能を持ったシステムが必要である．そこで，数百枚のラベルを扱うための機能を備えたGUNGEN DX II を開発し，これを用いて実験を行った．GUNGEN DX II は，主にグループ編成を支援する仮の島作成機能によって，従来の方法では困難となる数百枚のラベルの内容の把握と，これを用いたKJ 法を支援する．仮の島作成機能は，あらかじめすべてのラベルをある程度グループ化することで，グループ編成作業を容易にする機能である．各参加者は，ウィンドウ上部から1 つずつ徐々に落下してくるラベルを，似ていると感じるラベルに積み重ねてグループ化する．この機能は，時間の制限と容易な操作により，多くのラベルを短時間で判断させるところに特徴がある．この作業を各参加者が個別に行い，それらの結果から多数決で共通部分を抜き出すことで，グループ編成の準備となる「仮の島」が自動的に配置される．その結果を全参加者によって，さらに検討しながら最終的な島とする．実際に数百枚のラベルを用いてKJ 法を実施し，従来のシステムとグループ編成段階の比較を行った．比較の結果，ラベル数が増加しても作業時間として3 割程度の効率化を行えた．We have carried out experiments using an idea generation support system, named GUNGEN,which supports the KJ method. We have used about one hundred labels in the experiments.Several hundred labels can improve the results of experiments in the KJ method.When we treat several hundred labels, we should understand all contents of them. We should equip a special function for understanding the content of labels. We have developed GUNGEN DX II, which has a special function for a lot of labels. We have carried out experiments using GUNGEN DX II. GUNGEN DX II have a special function named "the draft islands generating function" to support the KJ method which can handle hundreds of labels. The draft islands generating function supports the grouping-labels step of the KJ method by grouping labels easily. Each participant stacks similar labels dropping from the top of a window in order intuitively. The features of the function are to restrict a dropping time and to operate easily. The stacked labels of the same column become an island. Each participant performs the task individually. The function generates draft islands from the common part of each participant's islands automatically by majority decision. Participants make conclusive islands by correcting the arrangement of draft islands. We carried out the KJ method using hundreds of labels. We compared with results of experiments using GUNGEN. Even if the number of labels increased, the time required to group labels decreased about 30 percent.

Prototype of an emotional chat system using sense of touch

We developed a prototype of a chat system using sense of touch. Depending on the power of grasping a mouse, two kinds of face marks ((∧∧), (&gt
&lt
)) are inputted to the chat window. We applied this prototype to a kind of an electronic conferencing system, named a remote seminar support system. From the results of experiments, we found that the system was effective for transmitting the tension to participants. We think this approach can be applied to various types of communication, for example, interactive TV with excitement level of audience. © 2005 IEEE.

SEGODON-PDA：無線LANとPDAを用いた柔軟な授業支援システム

無線LANとPDAを用いた柔軟な授業支援システムSEGODON-PDAを開発した．従来の固定型の授業支援システムは，計算機室などの計算機を設置した教室のみでしか実施できず，管理に手間がかかるという問題があった．PDAは比較的安価であり，携帯性に優れるため，柔軟なシステムの運用が可能である．SEGODON-PDAは，内容の異なる2つの授業に対する支援を行う．講義形式の授業では，学生が授業中に演習問題を授業用のウェブサイトからPDA上にダウンロードし，そこで解答する．学生は，PDAを持ち，画面上の解答を見ながら板書する．また，宿題をPDA上にダウンロードし，次回の授業までに教室外で解答を行う．発想法を学ぶ実習形式の授業では，PDAを用いたアイディア収集や発想法の結果を無線LANとPDAを利用して口頭発表を行う．開発したSEGODON-PDAを大学3年生の2種類の授業へ適用した結果，以下のことが分かった．(1)無線LANとPDAを用いたSEGODON-PDAは，講師と学生との対話性のある支援が行え学生から高く評価された．(2)様々な授業内容に対する支援が可能であり，教室外での宿題や予習などにも利用可能であった．We have developed a flexible lecture support system using PDAs and wireless LAN, named SEGODON-PDA. A conventional fixed lecture support system has been carried out only in the classroom such as a computer room. The problem is the trouble of management. PDAs are comparatively cheap and their portability is good. A flexible system can be built using PDAs. The system can support two types of lectures. We applied SEGODON-PDA to a lecture-type class. Students could download the contents for the lecture using a wireless LAN in class and could write something on a blackboard while carrying and seeing a PDA. They could do their homework outside of the classroom. We applied SEGODON-PDA to an exercise-type class. Students could collect ideas for the exercise of an idea generation method. They make a presentation about results of the exercise using their PDA with a wireless LAN. We have applied the system for third year students. The results of the applications are shown below. (1) The results of the application show that SEGODON-PDA is effective and highly evaluated. The class became interactive between the lecturer and students. (2) The system could support several types of lectures. The system could also support the homework or the preparation outside of the classroom.

状況の半自動自己申告機能を備える疎な連帯支援システムの開発と適用

これまでに，PDAを用いて自己申告により状況情報を入力し，それらの状況情報を共有して弱い連帯を支援するシステム「暇々手帳」を開発してきた．従来のサービスは，状況情報を手動で入力する自己申告制のため，状況情報の伝達が，提供する側の大きな負担となり，状況情報の提供が行われにくいという問題があった．そこで，半自動的な申告方法を取り入れた．改良した暇々手帳は，状況情報の伝達において，一定時間ごとに利用者に入力を促し，利用者の反応により半自動的に利用者の状況情報を伝達する機能を持つ．さらに，状況情報の1つとして，「暇度」という独自の尺度を併用して，利用者の状況情報を伝達する．システムの適用実験の結果，状況情報の伝達において，半自動自己申告により暇度を伝達することは効果的であることが分かった．つまり，暇度の半自動自己申告機能が作動することをきっかけに，他の利用者の状況情報を閲覧したり，掲示板へ書き込みを行ったりするようになり，システムの利用回数が増加するとともに，利用者の自己申告による状況情報の入力回数も増加しており，暇度の半自動自己申告機能が状況情報の入力を促した可能性が大きい．We have developed a weak-collaboration system, which shared situation information of each participant, named ``hima-hima notes''. Participants had forced to input the information into the system themselves manually. The load of input for the participants would be very high and then the information providing of the system would become to poor situation. We modified the ``hima-hima notes'' and the system could provide the semi-automatic self-declaration of situation. The system forces to input participants' situation between constant periods automatically. The system decides the situation of participants based on their response time automatically. We also provide our original parameter of situations named `himado'. The `himado' means the ratio of the spare time. We applied the system. The results of experiments show below: The semi-automatic self-declaration function of `himado' was effective for a weak-collaboration. The semi-automatic self-declaration became trigger to active for participants. The function must occur to increase the action, for example, the browsing other participants' situation or writing the shared white board or self-declarations of their situations.

GDA：複数のPDAによる画面結合および共有システム

近年，高性能で携帯性に優れた携帯情報端末（PDA）の普及と無線LANに代表される無線ネットワーク技術の普及にともない，移動先でインターネットなどのサービスを利用できるだけではなく，PDAによる双方向通信サービスも利用可能となってきた．そして，このような環境を利用して協調作業を支援しようとする試みが行われている．しかし，PDAの画面は小さく，そのままでは複数人で本格的な作業を行うのは困難であり，PDAの小さな画面を効率良く使える仕組みが必要である．そこで，画面の結合による表示領域の大型化と，お互いに同じ内容を見ながら作業ができる画面の共有とが可能なシステムGDA（Group Digital Assistant）を開発した．GDA上で動作するKJ法支援アプリケーションを用いて，2人による協調作業の実験を行った結果，下記のことが分かった．（1）画面結合は空間的に広い作業領域を必要とする作業で利用され，画面共有は，2人で相談しながら，1人は操作を行い，もう1人がそれに指示を与えるような作業で利用された．（2）画面結合および画面共有の機能はタスクに合わせて頻繁に切り替えながら利用された．PDAs (Personal Digital Assistants) have spread widely.Radio network technology, such as wireless LAN, has also spread widely.There are many systems that support cooperative work using the latest advanced environment.However, it is difficult to do cooperative work smoothly on a PDA because the screen of a PDA is too small.Then, we have developed GDA (Group Digital Assistant).GDA can combine or share screens of PDAs.We experimented in cooperative work using KJ method support application that operates on GDA.We found the followings from the results of the experiments.(1) Users used combined screen of PDAs for large workspace effectively.Users used shared screen of PDAs when one of two persons mainly operated a PDA and the other advised an operating person.(2) Users changed a combined screen and a shared screen at a cooperative work frequently.

This paper proposes a new concept of a shared and combined screen for new small devices called GDA (Group Digital Assistant). In the GDA, the screens of two PDAs can be shared at a sharing view mode, and can be treated just like one screen at a combination mode. The GDA uses a wireless LAN and Bluetooth for radio communication. We have developed application software and experimented in cooperative work for evaluation. We found that functions of the GDA were effective in actual cooperative work. The concept of the GDA can make flexible usage of a cellular phone and a PDA in the next generation.1.

多人数対応型リアルタイム4コマ漫画作成支援システムの開発

絵を描く作業はこれまで1人で行うことが多かったが，ネットワークの普及により，容易に多人数でのリアルタイムによる協調作業が行える環境になった．しかし，この環境で絵を描く作業を支援するシステムの試みはあまり行われていない．そこで多人数対応型リアルタイム4コマ漫画作成支援システムAB-DOKANを開発した．AB-DOKANは，リアルタイムに多人数で4コマ漫画作成するためのシステムである．本来なら1人で描く4コマ漫画を，多人数で描ければ，漫画作成のプロセスを分担して行えるなどメリットがあると考えられる．そこで，1?4人の各作業者でAB-DOKANを使用した漫画作成と，比較のため1人による手書きの漫画作成との適用実験を行った．その結果，多人数でも漫画は作成することができた．また1人と比べて時間はかかるものの，3人で作成した方が起承転の各コマを分担し，最後に3人で結を考えるといった作成の特徴から，比較的面白い漫画ができやすい傾向が見られた．Most of work of drawing a picture have been performed by one person.A realtime and cooperation work could be easily performed by the spread of networks.Then, we have develoved a real-time four-frame strip cartoon creation support system AB-DOKAN.AB-DOKAN is a support system for the four-frame strip cartoon creation by a few people in real time. A four-frame strip cartoon is originally drawn by one person.If comics can be drawn by many people, we can share the processes of the four-frame strip cartoon.Handwritten comics creation without computers were also performed by one person for comparatively.Consequently, we found that the four-frame strip cartoon was able to be created by a few people.The comics created by three persons take more time than by one person,but the contents tend to be interesting.Because three persons draw each frame and they think the last frame cooperatively.

アウェアネス支援機能を持つ電子鬼ごっこ支援グループウェアの開発と適用

携帯電話，PHSおよびPDA（携帯情報端末）など，小型軽量で持ち運びが容易な機器が増えてきた．そのため，位置情報は人と人とのコミュニケーションのための重要な情報のパラメータの1つとなっている．位置情報を携帯電話やPHSとGPSとを組み合わせて知らせるサービスは多数ある．しかし，これらは，相手あるいは目的の位置情報を視覚的な地図として伝達するだけであり，位置情報の表現として，聴覚や触覚を利用して伝達を試みたものはあまりなかった．そこで，PDAとGPSそれに携帯電話とを用い，アウェアネス支援機能を持つ電子鬼ごっこ支援グループウェアを開発した．そして，お互いに離れている遠隔地間で行う鬼ごっこを含む2種類の電子鬼ごっこ実験と，比較のためにアウェアネス支援機能を持たない電子鬼ごっことを2カ所の大学で，30回行った．これらの実験結果から下記のことが分かった．(1)アウェアネス支援機能と地図表示の工夫により，特に面白さに関する評価が向上する．(2)アウェアネス支援の方法はいつも一定ではなく，実験の領域の広さによって，支援の方法を変える必要がある．(3)アウェアネス支援機能は，使う頻度が上がると効果的である可能性が高い．Mobile phone, PHS and PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) are highly portable,and positioning data will become important data for human communication.There are many location-aware services.However,most of services only transmit or display a partner or the position information on target as a map.There was no service using the sense of hearing or touch as expression of position information.Then,we have developed the electronic tag-playing support groupware with awareness support functions.We performed experiments 30 times with the awareness support functions and without the awareness support functions at two universities.The results of the experiments were showd below.(1) We found that the evaluation of interesting was improved by awareness support functions and additional map information.(2) It is necessary to change the method of awareness support corresponding to the size of the place of an experiment.(3) The awareness support functions are more effective by the increase in the number of times used.

分散型遠隔ゼミナール支援システムRemoteWadaman IIの2年間の適用と評価

参加者全員が1人1台のPCを用い，2地点を結んだ遠隔ゼミナールを支援する，分散型遠隔ゼミナール支援システムRemoteWadaman IIを開発した．RemoteWadaman IIは，容量の大きいデータのやりとりや接続先のIPアドレス等の非同期の情報にはファイルサーバを用い，応答速度が重要な共有カーソルや共有画面の同期等にはメッシュ型のネットワークによる直接通信を用いる等，その分散化の方式に特徴がある．この特徴を生かして，ゼミナール中にもファイルを送信/取得可能な機能を設け，ゼミナールの効率化をはかった．このシステムを和歌山大学と鹿児島大学とを結んだゼミナールに2年間，計55回適用し，遠隔ゼミナールのログ解析とアンケート調査によりシステムを評価した．その結果，各参加者は各自のPCを用いることにより，発表中のカードや共有カーソルの指示を目前のPCで見られ，また，チャットの使用が可能となったのはもとより，さらに，ゼミナール開始後のレポートファイル送受信を可能としたことで，レポートの枚数が増加し，ゼミナールの質および量がともに向上した．We have developed a real-time distributed remote seminar support system,named RemoteWadaman II.The system can connect several computers via the Internet.Each student can operate his or her own computer.This system uses the following two communication methods.The first method is for large amount data and asynchronous information using a file server.The second method is for shared cursors and a shared screen using a direct communication by the mesh-type network.We developed functions to send and receive a file all over a seminar for the increase in efficiency of a seminar.RemoteWadaman II was applied seminars between two Universities 55 times and estimated by log analysis and questionnaires.Each participant was seen a shared report and shared cursors on his or her own PC,and each participant was able to use a chat.The number of sheets of a report increased by the functions to send and receive a file after a seminar start.As the result,this system has improved both the quality and quantity of a seminar.

The prototype of brain model hyper communication mechanisms

We propose a new communication technique, which is named the brain model hyper communication mechanism for group-ware. The mechanism mimics the brain processing. The sending mechanism sends almost all kinds of data of environment. The receiving mechanism integrates and processes the data selectively and hierarchically. We developed the prototype based on the mechanism and applied it to a collaboration game. The prototype has video, voice, and the touch of sense communication channels. The results of experiment were evaluated comparatively high value when we used the touch of sense detection system.

GDA: A flexible personal digital assistant that combines the screen of PDAs and their radio communication methods

We proposed a new concept that combines the screen of a PDA flexibly and that can flexibly choose the radio communication methods. We have developed the prototype of the system, called GDA. The screens of two or more PDAs can by treated just like one screen. That is, two or more screens of PDAs are flexibly combinable depending on the situation. As radio communication methods, GDA can choose PHS data communications and wireless LAN freely depending on the situation. We considered application to an idea generation support system. We performed the KJ method using the GDA. The KJ method with a GDA obtained relatively good evaluation from the results of the questionnaire.

Movable lecture support system using PDAs

We have developed a movable lecture support system using PDAs and wireless LAN, named SEGODON-PDA. We have applied the system lectures of third year students. The results of the application show that SEGODON-PDA (with wireless LAN) is very effective and highly evaluated, because students can download the contents for the lecture using the wireless LAN in class and can write something on the blackboard while carrying and seeing the SEGODON-PDA. The class became interactive between the lecturer and students.

電子鬼ごっこ支援グループウェアの開発と適用

PDA（携帯情報端末）は小型軽量で移動が容易なため，位置情報が新たな情報のパラメータの1つとなる．位置情報を携帯電話やPHSとGPSとを組み合わせて知らせるサービスは多数あるが，クライアント双方が動き回り，相手の位置情報などをクライアント自体で画面に出せるサービスは今まであまりなかった．そこでPDAとGPSそれに携帯電話とを用い，この形態のサービスを実現する電子鬼ごっこ支援グループウェアを開発した．そして位置情報の座標を変換し，お互いに離れている遠隔地間で行う鬼ごっこを含む4種類の電子鬼ごっこ実験と，比較のための従来の鬼ごっこ実験とを2カ所の大学で24回行った．これらの実験の結果から下記のことが分かった．（1）サービスを工夫するとGPSなどの機器を用いた電子鬼ごっこは，機器を使わない鬼ごっこより評価が高くなり，GPSによる相互の位置情報は鬼ごっこには有効であった．（2）電子鬼ごっこにおいてGPSの精度を下げた表示方法をとると，捕まるまでの時間は通常の精度の場合より延びたが，機器を用いない鬼ごっこよりは短い時間で捕まえることができた．（3）遠隔地からの電子鬼ごっこへの参加が実現したが，相手が近寄ってくる前兆や，捕まるときの実感を表す機能が必要であることが分かった．PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) is highly portable,and the positioning data will become important data for a PDA.There are many location-aware services.But most of services using PDAs and GPSs are one-way services.So, we should develop two-way interaction services.That is, the services that clients of the system should move freely and get and present location information of other clients easily.We have developed the electronic playing tag support groupware.The system consists of a PDA, a GPS and a mobile phone.We performed five types of experiments at two universities 24 times.Four types are the electronic playing tags and the remainder is a conventional playing tag.One of the experiments can realize participation between remote universities.The results of experiments were showed below.(1) The devised services based on the electronic playing tag support groupware were better estimation than that of the conventional playing tag.The mutual positioning information using a GPS was effective for the playing tags.(2) If the accuracy of a GPS decrease, we spend a little more time to catch.But the time did not exceed the playing time of the conventional play tag.(3) We can realize the electronic playing tag between remote universities.But we should add the realty using the remainder of five sense for lack of seriousness.

A Spiral-type Idea Generation Method Support System for Sharing and Reusing Knowledge and Information Among a Group

携帯情報端末（PDA）上で動作し，発想一貫支援グループウェア郡元のデータ収集部分を担当するGMemoを開発した．GMemoは，思いついたときに，いつでも，どこでも，また，入力もれなく使用できるよう開発したソフトウェアである．GMemoの特徴は，手書きデータを郡元で利用可能な情報として直接利用していることである．PDAを用いたデータ収集の実例として，和歌山大学システム情報学センター教職員にPDAを携帯してもらい，思いついたときに，自由にメモやアイディアを記入する実験を行った．約5カ月間にわたって収集されたメモやアイディアは大きく分けて，センター業務の改善に関するものと，利用したGMemoの改善についてであった．収集された手書き入力のアイディアを直接利用して，郡元を用いてKJ法を実施した．それらの結果から，PDAによるデータ収集は有効であることを示す．We have developed data collecting software, called GMemo (GUNGEN Memo), running on a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA). GMemo is a piece of input equipment for GUNGEN. GUNGEN is a groupware for a new idea generation consistent support system. Users can collect data for the KJ method using GMemo easily with no omission, and input ideas in free handwriting. We thought that such sudden ideas need to be stored in anytime and anywhere. The feature of GMemo is using handwriting data as input data for GUNGEN directly. We requested members of the Wakayama University Information Science Center to use GMemo regularly. They have used GMemo for about five months. The kinds of collected data were about the improvement of centers works and the improvement of GMemo.We carried out KJ method using handwritten data collected by GMemo. In this paper, we describe the result of the data collection using GMemo and the result of KJ method using handwritten data collected by GMemo. Furthermore, we show the effectiveness of the data collection using PDA.

Application of Distance Learning Support System SEGODON to Exercise - type Classes

多人数対応電子会議システムDEMPO IIIの開発

多人数対応電子会議システムDEMPO IIIを開発した。DEMPO IIIは対面型のテキストベースの会議システムである。このシステムは、我々のプログラミング演習室で40台のパソコンと１台のワークステーションで実装されている。従来、数十台でチャットをできるシステムはあるが、意見を画面上で自由に動かせる実用的な電子会議システムは少ない。そこで、我々は、数十台で画面上で意見の移動ができる電子会議システムを実現した。その実現方法は、次の２つの特徴的な方法を用いている。（１）すべての情報をファイルの内容ではなく、ファイルの名前に格納している。（２）パソコンからワークステーションへのアクセスは、一定間隔後とにFTPを使って行われる。実際に、このシステムを10人以上の電子会議に６回用いたところ、意見を画面上で自由に動かせる機能等、全体的に好評であった。さらに、40台の計算機を同時に用いたデータの取得実験も安定して動作することを確認した。We have developed a multi-user electronic conferencing system, named DEMPO III. DEMPO III is a text-based desktop electronic conferencing system for a face-to-face environment. This system was implemented in a network in our program-practicing room, consisting of 40 personal computers and one workstation. Most systems for multiple users have a chat function, but there are few real systems that can move opinion labels on the screen freely. We have developed an electronic conferencing system that can represent opinions among large numbers of people. The system has two distinctive methods, as follows: First, all recorded information is stored under a file name but not in file contents. Secondly, access from personal computres to the workstation is performed by the use of FTP at a constant interval. We have applied this system to actual conferencing 6 times with more than 10 people, and some functions, especially opinion labels freely moving function, have received a favorable reception by the users. The experiments using 40 computers showed the stable acquisition of data.
