The appearance frequency by ground-water level and characteristic of photosynthesis rate of Agriphylum squarrosum(L.)Moq.(Shami) at Mu Us Desert in Inner Mongolia

Recently, desertification progresses at Mu Us Desert in Inner Mongolia, vegetation is damaged by the over-use of nomads. This changed fixed dunes to semi-fixed and flux dunes. We investigated the distribution of A. squarrosum in the semi-fixed and flux dunes. The relative elevations from the ground-water level to A. squarrosum colony were researched. Moreover, the photosynthetic abilities of leaves growing at three layers (height 15cm, 30cm and 45cm) were measured. As a result, A. squarrosum appeared between 107cm and 509cm in the relative elevation from the ground-water level. In addition, A. squarrosum was only present in a quadrat away from 327cm or more in the relative elevation from the ground-water level. Pmax in each individual leaf measured at the height of 15cm from the ground was 6.20μmolm-2s-1, at 30cm was 5.59μmolm-2s-1 and at 45cm was 2.18μmolm-2s-1. The Pmax at the upper leaf(45cm) is less than that of the lower leaf(15cm, 30cm).

異なる標高におけるコナラとクヌギの離層発達と落葉に関する研究

We investigated the relation between the formation of abscission layer and the leaf shedding of Quercus serrata Thunb. ex. Muuray (the height of test plants were more than 4m, which standing at the height of 80m, 260m, 390m, 630m, 820m above sea level) and Quercus acutissima Carrutherus (the height of test plants were more than 6m, which standing at the height of 120m, 250m, 620m above sea level) on the different altitudes at the south side slope of Mt. Izumi-Katsuragi at Wakayama Prefecture, Japan. The measurement items were the chlorophyll content by SPAD value, the percentage of leaves left at the sampled shoot and photomicrographs of the sliced base of petioles. We measured them every two weeks from October 14, 2005 to January 24, 2006. As a result, the periods of autumn leaves, the formation of abscission layer and the leaf shedding on both species were advanced as the standing levels rising. But some leaves were not shed whether the abscission layer enough developed or not. And, those leaves were forcibly shed at the petiole by the strong wind. The factor of this phenomenon was decrease in strength of the petiole because of drying.

The planting experiment was conducted using two kinds of floating plant boxes at the down stream region of Wakagawa-river where the average river water salt concentration should set 2.0% or more.The structure of one type of floating plant box "using river water type" was as follows; The soil layer undersurface receives moisture supply in contact with the river water surface. The next type of floating plant box "using rain water type" was made to dissociate from the water surface and let only rain be the source of water supply of water. The results of the investigation for 22 months from April, 2003 to January, 2005 were follows ; 1) On the "using river water type" plant box, Cyperus alternifolius was the most well adapted plant. 2) On the "using rain water type" plant box, Eurya emarginata was the most well adapted plant. 3) It was judged that they were not. suitable for planting in such an environment since nine sorts of other plants (Phragmites australis, Aster tripolium, Dendranthema pacificum, Nipponanthemum nipponicum, Aster spathulifolius, Delosperma cooperi, Arundo danax, Pittosporum Tobira and Rhaphiolepis indica) withered and died within 22 months.

Effects of year-round warmer condition to the growth and phenology of Cryptomeria japonica

This study aimed to examine that the effects of year-round warmer conditions to the growth and the phenology of two-year-old Cryptomeria japonica seedlings. The growth and the phenology of C. japonica were investigated grown under several controlled temperature conditions of outdoor temperatures altered by &plusmn;0.0&deg;C, +1.0&deg;C, +2.0&deg;C, +3.0&deg;C. The results indicated that, the growth period were longer under warmer conditions, because growth halt were later and the spring flush were earlier under warmer conditions. Though the spring flush were earlier under warmer conditions, cumulative temperature from growth halt to the spring flush were increased under warmer conditions. Main shoot elongation, the speed of main shoot elongation, and length of between branches were greater under +2.0&deg;C and +3.0&deg;C treatments. Number of branches were increased under warmer conditions. Male flowers were not formed under &plusmn;0.0&deg;C treatment, but they were formed under warmer conditions. The blooming period began late under warmer conditions.

森林環境の評価ネットワークシステム

本研究は,森林の活性度(健康であるかどうか)と,インターネットで集めた森林の画像/色調の関係について,バイオトロンを用いた植物育成実験から解明し,生物学的な判定指標を組み込んだ,森林環境の評価システム,つまり「森林の健康診断システム」の開発経緯を整理したものである。システムの特徴は,評価に用いる画像を,定点観測,移動観測,衛星からインターネットによって収集することにあると解説した。これらの画像を比較し,広域の森林の健康状態を科学的に評価することも強調した。さらに,評価結果のデータベース化,web上への結果公開を試験的に行い,環境問題に対する啓蒙と環境教育に寄与するシステムの構築が可能であることを指摘した。

都市近郊コナラ(Quercus serrata Thunb.)二次林における踏圧裸地化した林床植生の復元過程

東京都武蔵野台地のコナラ(Quercus serrata Thunb.)二次林3箇所において,踏圧裸地化した林床植生の復元実験を実施した。復元実験は,立入り禁止と開放の二つの条件を設定することで踏圧の有無を制御し,その両条件下で,表土の掻き起し,林床植生成立地からの表土移植,何もしない放置の3条件で実施した。実験の結果,立入り禁止条件では,踏圧の抑制により,開放条件よりも草本層の高さや植被率が高まることを明らかにした。また,表土の移植を立入り禁止条件下で実施することにより,全体種数が増加し,コナラ二次林に本来的な植物の復元も進むことなどを明らかにした。

踏圧裸地化した林床植生復元における立入り禁止措置の効果を調べる実験を、東京都内の3つの林分で実施した。実験は、開放条件と立入り禁止条件を設定し、その両方において、土壌の掻き起こしを行ったものである。その結果、面積が9haで最大の林分の立入り禁止条件でのみ、草本植被率と種数が増加した。また、コナラ二次林を特徴づける種の比率も高まることを明らかにした。このことから、立入り禁止措置は、より大面積の林分でのみ、有効であることを指摘した。

溜池の水生植物群落再生に関する生態的管理の効果

本研究は,かつての普通だった溜池の管理法によって,水生植物群落が維持できるかどうかを検討したものである。池岸の樹木の伐採は,対象とした溜池で確認された水生植物全般の生育を助ける光条件の維持に有用な頃ことが示された。池の周辺の落ち葉掻きは貧栄養を好む水生植物の群落の拡大へとつながった。さらに,池底に堆積した泥の除去は,好腐植性の水生植物の大繁茂を押さえることも明らかとなった。これらの方法を組み合わせることで,溜池内の水生植物の種組成を多様に維持できることを指摘した。

The growth of Quercus serrata seedlings were investigated grown under several controlled temperature conditions of outdoor temperatures altered by -1.0&deg;C, &plusmn;0.0&deg;C, +1.0&deg;C, +2.0&deg;C, and +3.0&deg;C. As a result, elongation, number of leaves, length between leaves, flushing times and diameter of the main shoot were greater under +3.0&deg;C treatment. However, leaf area and leaf thickness of seedlings under +3.0&deg;C treatment became almost the same as leaf area and leaf thickness of seedlings under &plusmn;0.0&deg;C treatment. Advance of autumnal leaves under warmer condition was overdue. Many seedlings under +3.0&deg;C treatment didn't shed leaves and abscission layer of many seedlings under +3.0&deg;C treatments were not developed. There seemed that elongation, number of leaves, length between leaves, flushing times, diameter of the main shoot, advance of autumnal leaves, shed leaves period, and development of abscission layer of Quercus serrata seedlings should change under warmer condition.

温暖条件下で育成したコナラの成長

年間を通じた気温の上昇がコナラの成長や生物季節現象に及ぼす影響を検討する目的で,3年生の実生苗を野外の気温に1.5℃,3.0℃,4.5℃加温した温暖条件および野外と同温,-1.5℃に調整した人工気象室内で育成した。その結果,春の開芽開始は,+1.5℃区,+3.0℃区,+4.5℃区で早くなる傾向が認められた。樹高伸長量,着生葉数,地際直径,全乾重は+3.0℃区,+4.5℃区で大となり,特に+4.5℃区の根の乾重が著しく大となった。また,+3.0℃区,+4.5℃区で落葉せずに着生した状態で越冬する個体が確認された。主軸の細胞長は加温区で増加した。そして,紅葉の進行は加温区で遅れる傾向が認められた。SPAD値,光合成速度は+4.5℃区で低下する傾向が認められた。以上の結果,生育環境の気温上昇は,樹高伸長量,着生葉数,器官別乾物重量,地際直径等の増加,光合成速度の低下,春の開芽時期の促進,紅葉の進行の遅れ,落葉せずに越冬などの現象を引き起こす可能性があることを指摘した。
