Proposal of collaborative navigation for multi users from different departure points to the same goal

This paper presents a proposal of two new modes of collaborative human navigation. Both are used in a situation in which two users depart from different points simultaneously, but they want to reach common goal. One mode of navigation is used in a situation in which both users want to reach the goal independently. The navigation system calculates each route and arrival time for each user. If the two arrival times differ, then the system suggests another route with a dropping point such as a store or park to the user who will reach the goal earlier. The other navigation is used in a situation in which two users want to join somewhere before reaching a common goal. The navigation system suggests not only a juncture point, but also suggests routes from each departure point to the juncture point, and a route from the juncture point to the goal. We developed a prototype system using the city center of Wakayama as a test area. Using it, we evaluated the proposed navigations. © 2011 Authors.

Real-world oriented mobile constellation learning environment using gaze pointing

We developed a real-world oriented mobile constellation learning environment. Learners point at a target constellation by gazing through a cylinder with a gyro-sensor under the real starry sky. The system can display information related to the constellation. The system has original exercise functions which are not supported by existing systems or products by other research group or companies. Proposal and development of motion navigator enabling learners to observe expert's motion from expert's viewpoint by augmented reality

We propose a new method to support skill learning for sports or arts, and developed a prototype system. The system simulates expert's motion from expert's viewpoint with CG animation on learner's head mount display (HMD) by using augmented reality. Learners can trace expert's motion by using the system. We applied the system to skill learning support for Kyudo (Japanese art of archery), and we evaluated the proposed method. © 2011 Springer-Verlag.

This paper describes the index evaluation of the index brain to select snap shot memory on the multiple indexing generation memory model (Indexing Brain Model). It makes multiple indexes for each memory. An image index associates other images. A symbolic index also associates images. Images are recognized into indexes. To select the memory, the system calculates an index evaluation value to evaluate the number of indexes and their index weight, and selects one snap shot memory with high score index evaluation value.

Through experimentation and analyses of apple peeling, we examined the implicit knowledge necessary to perform study support for exercise and performance. A pressure sensor, an eye-mark recorder, a miniature wireless camera, and a surface electromyography were used to assess actions of 10 examinees (6 men, 4 women) during an experiment, which revealed three main differences between experts and non-experts: holding of the kitchen knife using the index finger to the little finger, use of the right thumb, and holding the apple with the left hand. Results show that securely holding the apple and the kitchen knife is important. Finally, we designed the skill learning support system. © 2010 IEEE.
